Dawes Glacier, AlaskaEnjoy a magnificent cruise across the Stikine Icecap, which is about 45 miles south of Juneau, Alaska. Stikine Ice Cap, a massive ice field in the Alaska Panhandle region close to the Coast Mountains. It is the primary source of water for the Taku and Stikine rivers. Located between the Stikine River and the waters of Frederick Sound in south-east Alaska, the Stikine Icecap crosses the international border between the United States and Canada. Stikine Icecap is famous for its peaceful, lonely nature, towering glaciers, steep mountains, and plethora of species.

The majority of the Stikine Icecap is a protected wilderness area within the Tongass National Forest. LeConte Glacier and Sawyer Glacier in the United States and Great Glacier in Canada all have their origins in the Stikine Icecap.

Famous peaks for which it is known in this area include the Cat’s Ears, Burkett Needle, and the Devil’s Thumb. As you make your way along the nearly frozen waterway, take in the sights of a pristine natural environment. Explore the natural splendor of a landscape dominated by imposing cliffs. There are steep mountains surrounding it, with roaring waterfalls that plunge into pools of sapphire water and beautiful blue ice.
