Cruising to San Juan Islands, Washington

Hampback WhaleThe San Juan Islands are a group of islands off the coast of Washington, USA, notable for their rustic Pacific Northwest scenery and abundant wildlife. Even though there are 172 designated islands and reefs in San Juan County, the majority of the population and tourist attractions are located on the four islands that are accessible by ferry: San Juan Island (where Friday Harbor, the county seat, is located), Orcas Island, Lopez Island, and Shaw Island. The pods of Orcas that call these islands home are well-known. Friday Harbor, a vibrant beach village, and Lime Kiln Point State Park, a lookout for orca whales, are two of San Juan Island’s most notable attractions.
