Haines is a major stop for the Alaska Marine Highway System, whose ferries drop off RVers and other travelers en route to the Alaska Highway to the north. The town of Haines sits on the northern coast of Lynn Canal, the longest and deepest fjord in the Americas. Located close to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, it marks the northern tip of Alaska. It has the most picture-perfect scenery of any town in Alaska, thanks to its proximity to towering snow-capped mountains and hanging glaciers. Haines may be reached by road, air, and boat and is located about 40 miles from the U.S./Canadian border, north of Juneau and slightly south of Skagway.
