Baranof Island, also known as Baranov Island, Shee Island, or Sitka Island, is an island in the northern Alexander Archipelago of Alaska’s Panhandle. It is the eighth biggest island in Alaska and home to the tallest mountain in the Alexander Archipelago.

Sitka is located on the outer banks of Baranof Island, on the Inside Passage waterways. Almost the entire island is administered by the City and Borough of Sitka (Sitka also extends northward onto Chichagof Island). The sole area of Baranof that is not in Sitka is a sliver of land in the extreme southeast corner, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Petersburg Census Area and includes the town of Port Alexander.
